A comeback Daniil Medvedev won his first trophy for 882 days with success over Corentin Moutet in the competition title decider.

The Russian, a ex- world number one, has experienced a challenging year, achieving just one win at the Grand Slams and suffering a difficult moment at the New York tournament.

Medvedev's unpredictability on the tennis tour - and struggles with his serving in specific - resulted in him exiting of the top ten and eventually splitting with former coach his previous coach.

Presently collaborating with his coach and Goetzke, he has consistently advanced in the past month - climaxing in a hard-fought competitive win over challenger Moutet.

This marks the player's initial title after the 2023 Rome Masters and maiden on a hardcourt from that period of the previous year.

The win also means the Russian has secured twenty-one championships at twenty-one different competitions.

"This marks the first occasion I have attended a competition with my two daughters together, so to secure a title is particularly special," said world number 14 Daniil Medvedev.

"This championship is in dedication of my second daughter my daughter, because the initial championship I got when my older daughter her name was born was for her."

The tennis star, the 2021 US Open champion, had lost his past six title deciders, featuring in Halle in the past months.

Medvedev's counter-punching strategy and regular emotional displays on court had led observers to question if his capacity to compete at the elite level was over.

Yet the athlete has implemented adjustments in the past month, making an effort to come to the net and compete assertively, supported by an better serving game.

The champion recovered from a break down in the opening set against the challenging Moutet, securing four of the last five points to take the lead.

Both players swapped service breaks in the middle set before the challenger, attempting for his maiden ATP Tour championship, gained dominance to push for a decider.

The opponent saved four early opportunities in a close third set before Medvedev secured a break to 15 to close out the victory.

Fittingly, Medvedev earned victory with a rally at the net, with Moutet incapable to manage a shot after over two and a half hours.
